About Moghrey Mie

The story behind the Isle of Man's daily morning newsletter, and why we believe every day should start with a warm "Moghrey Mie".

Our Story

Moghrey Mie was born from a simple observation: people love the Isle of Man, but staying connected to what's happening can be overwhelming.

"We believe every morning should start with warmth, connection, and a sense of belonging — whether you're waking up in Douglas, Dublin, or Dubai."

In 2024, after years of living between the Isle of Man and the mainland, founder David Shelley noticed how difficult it was to stay informed about what was happening back home. Scrolling through multiple news sites, checking weather forecasts, and searching for events felt like work before the day had even begun.

The solution was simple: one email, every weekday morning, with everything you need to know about the Isle of Man. News highlights, weather forecast, upcoming events, and a little bit of Manx culture — all curated and delivered at 7 AM, just as your day begins.

The name "Moghrey Mie" (pronounced "MOR-uh MY") was chosen deliberately. It's the traditional Manx Gaelic greeting for "Good Morning" — warm, welcoming, and distinctly Isle of Man. It represents everything we want our newsletter to be: a friendly start to your day that connects you to the island you love.
